Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Instead, roots are suspended in the air and irrigated with a nutrient-dense mist.

Why we need Vertical Farming for Foster Families

While some kids come into foster care in bodies that are clearly aching for food, others may appear well-nourished but are similarly suffering from nutrient deficiencies.

 

In other cases, a lack of vitamins and minerals may not impact outer appearance but can have a significant impact on brain development and long-term cognitive functioning.

Analysis showed that their diet lacked sufficient protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals.  As a result, a substantial number of these children were stunted or wasting.  Many were significantly deficient in key nutrients, such as iron and vitamin D, which can have devastating effects on the brain and physical health.  Moreover, the effects of poor nutrition can make it harder for a child to be placed with a permanent family.

The Mustard Seed Academy is dedicated to empowering the lives of children, young adults and families in the Foster Care system by helping them A comprehensive academy to help foster children gain life skills and knowledge. The Mustard Seed NV Academy, will offer an extensive curriculum covering topics ranging from self care to automotive training. Providing aging out foster children with the tools they need to lead successful lives, including money management, navigation skills, safe driving procedures, and more. . With the use of innovative computer-based instruction as well as hands on opportunities in cooking and kitchen safety, The Mustard Seed Academy will offer wrap around guidance and support for aging out foster children helping them to thrive in their transition into adulthood through guided training, love and compassion.
